HRM 210 Meetings & Event Planning Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course introduces concepts related to the planning and operation of conventions, trade shows, professional meetings, and foodservice events. Emphasis is placed on methods of marketing, selling, organizing, and producing conventions, events, and trade shows that will increase financial and environmental value. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of management principles for multi-function, multi-day conferences and events.
Course is typically offered in Spring. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Demonstrate marketing strategies to attract multi-functional events.
- Design an appropriate sales approach for given group sales situation.
- Identify the servicing needs for a multi-functional event.
- Identify administrative responsibilities for effective operations of special events.
