HSE 220 Case Management

Lecture: 2 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3
This course covers the variety of tasks associated with professional case management. Topics include treatment planning, needs assessment, referral procedures, and follow-up and integration of services. Upon completion, students should be able to effectively manage the care of the whole person from initial contact through termination of services.

Pre-requisite(s): HSE 110.  
Course is typically offered in Fall.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:

  1. Differentiate between major functions of case management.
  2. Discuss case management through use of current models, perspectives, and research.
  3. Determine the needs of clients or client groups through observation, interviewing, active listening, consultation, and research.
  4. Create comprehensive treatment plans for mock clients.
  5. Apply prevention, intervention, and maintenance strategies to case vignettes.
