LSG 122 Spring Gardening Lab

This course provides familiarization with basic gardening techniques by performing practical hands-on exercises required for the spring season. Emphasis is placed on pruning, irrigation, planting, fertilizing, pest-control, equipment operation, turf maintenance, and landscape construction. Upon completion, students should be able to satisfactorily perform various practices essential to maintaining the landscape in the spring season.

Course is typically offered in Spring.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Identify plants in the Landscape that must be cultivated, propagated, and maintained by season.
  2. Discuss the proper maintenance practices utilized in the Green Industry.
  3. Explain Sustainable Gardening and methods of incorporating it into the Green Industry.
  4. Select the proper plants, soil amendments, and drought tolerant plant alternatives.
