LSG 123 Summer Gardening Lab Lecture: 0 Lab: 6 Clinic: 0 Credits: 2 This course provides basic hands-on experience in summer gardening techniques. Emphasis is placed on pruning, irrigation, planting, fertilizing, pestcontrol, equipment operation, turf maintenance, landscape construction, and maintaining fruits and vegetables. Upon completion, students should be able to perform various techniques essential to maintaining the summer landscape.
Course is typically offered in Summer. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
1. Maintain a turfrass plot within industry standards as it pertains to mowing height of cut, fertilization, and irrigation requirements.
2. Prune roses and shrubs with various tools and equipment.
3. Apply proper fertilization and irrigation requirements to existing landscape plants, shrubs and grasses on the Greensboro Campus.
4. Control turfgrass and horticultural pests in the landscape based on the type of pest.
