PTA 212 Health Care/Resources Lecture: 2 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 2 This course provides an overview of various aspects of health care delivery systems and the interrelationships of health care team members. Topics include health agencies and their functions, health care team member roles, management, and other health care issues. Upon completion, students should be able to discuss the functions of health organizations and team members and aspects of health care affecting physical therapy delivery.
Pre-requisite(s): PTA 255 . Course is typically offered in Fall. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Analyze the major characteristics of the United States health care system on written exams.
- Explain the major methods of financing and reimbursing health care in the United States on written exams.
- Express responses to participation in a health-related community event on a written assignment.
- Write a review of an article from the APTA Magazine.
- Complete practice exams for the National Physical Therapy Examination for Physical Therapist Assistants.
- Demonstrate professional skills for all aspects of the course.
