ISC 114 Visual Workplace Organization / 5S Lecture: 0 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 1 This course provides students with an overview of Lean 5S principles and methods for implementing workplace organization. Emphasis is placed on explaining the purpose of Lean 5S methodologies in organizing and maintaining workplace environments; explaining the relationship between workplace safety and Lean 5S; and assessing working and learning environments for Lean 5S implementation. Upon completion, students should be able to describe and demonstrate the purpose and benefits behind 5S methodology.
Course is typically offered in Spring. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:
- Take part in the Visual Workplace Organization/5S initial training.
- Explain with full understanding and examples the Workplace Organization/5S pocket card.
- Perform a Visual Workplace Organization/5S exercise in the laboratory workspace.
- Develop an essay explaining how 5S impacts each of the Key Business Elements.
- Illustrate the Visual Workplace Organization/5S projects in the End-of-Semester group presentation.
