MUS 241 Ensemble III

This course is a continuation of MUS 142 . Emphasis is placed on the development of performance skills and the study of a variety of styles and periods of ensemble literature. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate skills needed to participate in ensemble playing leading to performance.

This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a premajor and/or elective course requirement.

Pre-requisite(s): C or better in MUS 142 .
Course is typically offered in Fall and Spring.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Demonstrate playing and performance techniques with an ensemble.
  2. Use musical terms and symbols as encountered in ensemble literature.
  3. Execute a variety of musical styles through dialogue, rehearsal, and performance.
  4. Exercise proper stage deportment in concert settings through actual performance.
