NET 289 Networking Project

Lecture: 1 Lab: 4 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3
This course provides an opportunity to complete a significant networking project from the design phase through implementation with minimal instructor support. Emphasis is placed on project definition, documentation, installation, testing, presentation, and training. Upon completion, students should be able to complete a project from the definition phase through implementation.

Pre-requisite(s): Take CTI 110 , CTI 120 CTS 115  and NET 225 .
Co-requisite(s): NET 226 .
Course is typically offered in Spring.
Course has transfer restrictions - 10 years

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following: 

  1. Design a computer network model that meets the needs of an organization.
  2. Plan a database that meets the needs of an organization.
  3. Prepare a hardware and software budget that meets the needs of an organization.
  4. Explain IP addressing services (e.g., DHCP, NAT).
  5. Outline the steps required to install operating systems.
  6. Design a network layout of hardware used to support the needs of an organization.
  7. Design router configuration to interconnect networks that meet the needs of an organization.
  8. Design security methods that meet the needs of an organization.
