PHM 125 Pharmacology II Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course provides a continuation of the study of the properties, effects, and therapeutic value of the primary agents in the major drug categories. Topics include autonomic and central nervous system agents, anti-inflammatory agents, and anti-infective drugs. Upon completion, students should be able to place major drugs into correct therapeutic categories and identify indications, side effects, and trade and generic names.
Pre-requisite(s): PHM 120 . Course is typically offered in Spring. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Analyze medical terminology related to pharmacology.
- Assess drug mechanisms.
- Differentiate between drug classifications.
- Categorize sources of information on drug actions.
- Categorize common drugs and their uses.
- Characterize nutritional products and potential adverse affects.
- Characterize factors that affect drug actions in the human body.
