This program is designed to help individuals who already have a 4-year degree in a discipline other than accounting to obtain the content knowledge required for the CPA Examination and the additional credit hours required for CPA Licensure in North Carolina.  The courses in this diploma program are generally accepted by the NC State Board of CPA Examiners towards the licensure requirement. 

Program Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of the Accounting and Finance diploma, the graduate should be able to:

  • Record moderately complex financial transactions of a business properly
  • Prepare financial statements that fairly present the financial position of the company
  • Prepare moderately complicated tax returns for an individual and a wide variety of businesses
  • Evaluate the usefulness and risk associated with the internal control of a company
  • Record basic transactions for a government or not-for-profit entity accurately
  • Utilize basic tools in cost accounting to make operational decision of a company properly
