This curriculum prepares individuals for entry-level employment in the entertainment industry, particularly in the field of music business. Course work includes exposure to the processes of music business as well as concert sound and lighting, and recording engineering. Course work will also include entertainment law, entertainment promotion, artist management, and venue management. Students will also receive course work in music theory, electronic music, and recording engineering. Graduates may find employment in artist or venue management, entertainment promotion, music publishing, and other music business endeavors.
Program Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the Entertainment Technologies–Music Business Option, students will be able to:
- Determine the career tracks and entertainment unions within the entertainment industry
- Determine the application of copyright law within the entertainment industry
- Interpret the laws governing performer’s rights and organizations within the entertainment industry
- Demonstrate proper practices in the areas of recording, and concert sound and lighting
- Demonstrate responsibility in the performance of professional assignments
