HUM 122 Southern Culture Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course explores the major qualities that make the South a distinctive region. Topics include music, politics, literature, art, religion, race relations, and the role of social class in historical and contemporary contexts. Upon completion, students should be able to identify the characteristics that distinguish Southern culture.
This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a general education course in Humanities/Fine Arts.
Pre-requisite(s): DRE 097 or ENG 002 Co-requisite(s): DRE 098 or ENG 011 Course is typically offered in Fall and Spring. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
- Explain the factors that influence the South’s cultural development.
- Analyze the causes and effects of historical/social changes in the South.
