REL 111 Eastern Religions Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course introduces the major Asian religious traditions. Topics include Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and Shinto. Upon completion, students should be able to identify the origins, history, beliefs, and practices of the religions studied.
This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a general education course in Humanities/Fine Arts.
Pre-requisite(s): DRE 097 or ENG 002 Course is typically offered in Spring. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Describe key beliefs, figures, and practices of the religions.
- Analyze written or spoken examples how religion is influenced by societal impacts, such as social, economic, political, and cultural forces.
- Explain philosophical and ritual insights with vocabulary terms used within each tradition.
