The Healthcare Informatics Certificate prepares individuals for employment as specialists in installation, data management, data archiving/retrieval, system design and support, and computer training for medical information systems. The Healthcare Informatics track is an administrative, applied technology degree for students interested in a non-clinical care profession in the health care industry.
Students will study issues and trends found within Healthcare Informatics, terminology relating to medical records, billing, insurance, informatics, and database technology.
Upon successful completion of the Healthcare Informatics certificate, graduates should be able to:
- Apply policies and procedures to comply with the changing regulations among various information systems found within healthcare.
- Interpret health-related data in an effort to identify trends that will improve overall quality, safety, and effectiveness in the health care institution.
- Apply policies and procedures to assure the accuracy and integrity of information management based systems directly related to healthcare.
- Utilize relational databases or other current software solutions in an effort to consolidate, manipulate, integrate, and display data.
