Admission to Limited Entry Programs
Applying
Limited Entry Programs have a formal application process and limited seating. That is, the program accepts a specific and limited number of learners each selection cycle and you must apply to receive consideration for entry. Each program has different requirements that must be met before you can apply. A Limited Entry Advisor can help you determine which program is best suited for your skills and interest and they can then guide you through the pre-application process.
Please note, while you may be admitted to GTCC, you are not automatically admitted to your program of interest. There are specific additional deadlines you must meet to be eligible for application. Once they are met, you may submit a program application by the specified application deadline date. Please note that some programs are very competitive and meeting the minimum program admission requirements does not guarantee you a space in the program.

Selection Process
Program applications are typically reviewed by a Selection Committee, comprised of program directors, faculty, and staff. The selection process varies by program and is explained in the individual program’s admission packet.
Some programs use a “ranking” system, where points are earned for items such as coursework completed and current certifications. Other programs select applicants, based on the date their program-level admission requirements were completed and the program application was submitted.
Student Progression
Students in limited entry programs are cohort-based. This means that admitted students are expected to complete the curriculum as presented in the catalog and should expect to attend full-time.
Higher academic standards for course completion may apply in limited entry programs. Students are encouraged to carefully read the admission packet and/or consult a Limited Entry staff member to ensure they fully understand academic expectations for both prerequisite and program courses. Admitted students who are unable to maintain satisfactory academic progress may, through a process of review, be dismissed from a program.
Advanced Standing
Students who have partially completed similar programs at other institutions and are seeking advanced placement into limited entry programs should contact the program director to request admittance/transfer to the program. He or she will determine your eligibility to transfer into the program. In the event they are offered admission, the student will undergo a transcript evaluation to determine his or her advanced placement. If students are ineligible for transfer admission into a program, they may apply through the Limited Entry Programs office for selection to start the program from the beginning.

GTCC offers many degrees, diplomas, and certificates entirely online, though some instructors require proctored exams. Students considering eDegree programs should carefully review the information on the eDegree website and complete the supplemental online application.
Co-Admission
Guilford Technical Community College and North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State Collage
Through a special admission process, students who wish to study Mechanical or Civil Engineering at GTCC and transfer to NC A&T to earn a bachelor’s degree can be admitted to NC A&T as they pursue their freshman and sophomore years at GTCC.
