AER 220 Airport Management Lecture: 2 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 2 This course examines the major functions of airport management and the concepts underlying airport planning and construction. Topics include forecasting volumes and airport size and design, including master planning, location requirements, site selection, runway configuration, zoning laws, and other considerations. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate basic airport management skills including an understanding of the socioeconomic effect of airports on the community.
Course is typically offered in Fall. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At successful completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:
- Explain the economic role of airports.
- Summarize the Airport and Airway Development Act of 1970.
- Evaluate an Airport Master Plan.
- Formulate Forecasting Plans.
- Formulate Control Noise Abatement Procedures.
