AHR 235 Refrigeration Design Lecture: 2 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course covers the principles of commercial refrigeration system operation and design. Topics include walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers, system components, load calculations, equipment selection, defrost systems, refrigerant line sizing, and electric controls. Upon completion, students should be able to design, adjust, and perform routine service procedures on a commercial refrigeration system.
Pre-requisite(s): AHR 110 . Course is typically offered in Spring. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:
- Diagnose the mechanical problems on a refrigeration system.
- Diagnose the electrical problems on a refrigeration system.
- Design a load calculation of small refrigeration systems.
- Distinguish different products and their specific heat.
- Recognize the difference between Air-Cooled and Water-Cooled refrigeration systems.
