ARC 114 Architectural CAD

Lecture: 1 Lab: 3 Clinic: 0 Credits: 2
This course introduces basic architectural CAD techniques. Topics include basic commands and system hardware and software. Upon completion, students should be able to prepare and plot architectural drawings to scale within accepted architectural standards.

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Define the importance of drafting applications in the architectural and engineering industry.
  2. Identify professional disciplines that use design software applications to prepare construction documents.
  3. Describe the relationship between the design process and graphic communication.
  4. Identify the components of architectural drawings.
  5. Apply general architectural standards to CAD drawing files.
  6. Identify basic CAD drafting techniques.
  7. Develop fluency in the use of CAD commands and system operation.
