ARC 213 Design Project

Lecture: 2 Lab: 6 Clinic: 0 Credits: 4
This course provides the opportunity to design and prepare a set of contract documents within an architectural setting. Topics include schematic design, design development, construction documents, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to prepare a set of commercial contract documents.

Pre-requisite(s): C or better in ARC 111 , ARC 112 , ARC 114 , ARC 211 , and ARC 221 .
Course is typically offered in Spring.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:

  1. Develop a written project proposal using provided parameters.
  2. Complete code research based on the use group and type of structure being designed.
  3. Develop a partial set of conceptual architectural drawings in accordance with a provided check list.
  4. Participate in conceptual and final design peer-review.
  5. Develop a partial set of final architectural construction drawings in accordance with a provided check list.
  6. Apply basic architectural principles in the design of buildings, interior spaces, and sites.
  7. Design sites and buildings to accommodate individuals with varying physical abilities.
  8. Apply the basic principles of life-safety systems including egress.
