ASM 110 Aerostructure Shop Prac

Lecture: 2 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3
This course introduces specialized hand tools, equipment, aerostructure components, and assembly plant layouts commonly found in the aerostructure manufacturing industry. Emphasis is placed on precision instruments, identification of aerostructure components, and common procedures used in the manufacturing and repair of aerostructures. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate the proper use of tools and equipment common to the manufacturing and repair of aerostructure components.

Course is typically offered in Fall, Spring, and Summer.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Determine the different parts of an aircraft structure.
  2. Use basic hand and measuring tools used in aircraft manufacturing and repair
  3. Interpret blueprints used in aircraft manufacturing and repair.
  4. Distinguish between the various types of metals used in aircraft manufacturing and repair.
  5. Use power tools used in aircraft manufacturing and repair.
  6. Demonstrate safety practices used in aircraft manufacturing and repair.
  7. Differentiate between the various types of corrosion common to aircraft structures.
