AUB 114 Special Finishes

Lecture: 1 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 2
This course introduces multistage finishes, custom painting, and protective coatings. Topics include base coats, advanced intermediate coats, clear coats, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to identify and apply specialized finishes based on accepted industry standards.

Pre-requisite(s): AUB 111  and TRN 110 .
Course is typically offered in Summer.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Utilize safety equipment and procedures associated with refinishing.
  2. Identify a three stage paint job.
  3. Apply a three stage paint job.
  4. Create a letdown panel.
  5. Create a repair plan based on vehicle refinish analysis.
  6. Demonstrate a 3-stage pearl blend.
  7. Demonstrate a 3-stage candy blend.
  8. Demonstrate mixing and application techniques of waterborne refinishes according to manufacturer’s standards.
