AUB 132 Structural Damage II

Lecture: 2 Lab: 6 Clinic: 0 Credits: 4
This course provides an in-depth study of structural damage analysis and repairs to vehicles that have received moderate to heavy structural damage. Topics include shop safety, structural analysis and measurement, equipment, structural glass, advanced repair techniques, structural component replacement and alignment, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to analyze and perform repairs according to industry standards.

Pre-requisite(s): AUB 131  and TRN 110 .
Course is typically offered in Summer.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Section a fender by removing 4” from the center.
  2. Repair a panel section in using a “Plug” weld.
  3. Repair a panel section using a “Butt” weld.
  4. Repair a panel section using a “Flange” weld.
  5. Repair a panel section in using a “Lap” weld.
  6. Weld up a 3 inch split in a panel.
  7. Weld a ¼” hole without backing.
  8. Demonstrate three types of metal cutting techniques including “Plasma”.
