AUT 163A Advanced Automotive Electricity Lab

This course is an optional lab to be used as an alternative to co-op placement in meeting the NATEF standards for total hours. Topics include networking and module communication, circuit construction, wiring diagrams, circuit testing, troubleshooting and emerging electrical/electronic systems technologies. Upon completion, students should be able to properly use wiring diagrams, diagnose, test, and repair wiring, lighting, gauges, accessories, modules, and electronic concerns.

Co-requisite(s): AUT 163 .

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Analyze a problem with a cranking system fault and correctly repair the fault.
  2. Analyze a problem with a charging system fault and correctly repair the fault.
  3. Determine the cause of a simulated or actual fault in a vehicle’s lighting system.
  4. Determine the cause of a driver information system fault.
  5. Determine the cause for an S.I.R. fault code and the procedure to correctly repair the fault.
