AUT 221 Automatic Transmissions/Transaxles Lecture: 2 Lab: 3 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course covers operation, diagnosis, service, and repair of automatic transmissions/transaxles. Topics include hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical/electronic operation of automatic drive trains and the use of appropriate service tools and equipment. Upon completion, students should be able to explain operational theory, diagnose and repair automatic drive trains.
Pre-requisite(s): TRN 120 . Course is typically offered in various semesters. Check with the department for your particular credentialing option. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Perform a pressure test on a transmission/transaxle with electronic pressure controls.
- Diagnose automatic transmission/transaxle concerns using power flow principles.
- Diagnose electronic transmission/transaxle control systems using appropriate test equipment and service information.
- Demonstrate the disassembly of an automatic transmission/transaxle using appropriate equipment, tools and service information.
- Assemble an automatic transmission/transaxle to manufacturers specifications using appropriate equipment, tools and service information.
- Measure clutch pack clearance and determine necessary action for repair or replacement.
- Analyze clutch pack and servo operation using proper air testing methods.
