AUT 231A Manual Transmissions/Transaxles/Drive Trains Lab

This course is an optional lab for the program that needs to meet NATEF hour standards but does not have a co-op component in the program. Topics include manual drive train diagnosis, service and repair using appropriate service information, tools, and equipment. Upon completion, students should be able to diagnose and repair manual drive trains.

Co-requisite(s): AUT 231 .

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Diagnose a problem with a clutch master cylinder.
  2. Replace a defective clutch master cylinder using manufacturers’ procedures.
  3. Diagnose a problem with a clutch slave cylinder.
  4. Replace a defective clutch slave cylinder using manufacturers’ procedures.
  5. Conduct performance test on a manual transmission clutch.
  6. Replace a manual transmission clutch using published specifications.
  7. Remove a manual transmission from a vehicle using published information.
  8. Install a manual transmission in a vehicle using published information.
  9. Disassemble a manual transmission for evaluation.
  10. Reassemble a manual transmission using published information.
