AVI 130 Airframe Maintenance II

Lecture: 6 Lab: 9 Clinic: 0 Credits: 9
This course deals entirely with airframe systems and components. Topics include aircraft electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, landing gear, position, warning, and fuel systems. Upon completion of the course, the student should be prepared to pass the applicable portions of the knowledge, oral, and practical tests of the airframe rating for the FAA mechanic’s certificate.

Pre-requisite(s): AVI 110  
Course is typically offered in Fall and Summer.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Troubleshoot and repair the systems that are provided by the instructor, using the correct diagrams and tools.
  2. Identify, evaluate, and explain hydraulic and pneumatic systems components and operational requirements to level 3 standards.
  3. Repair landing gear, retraction systems, shock struts, brakes, wheels, tires, and steering systems to a level 3 standard.
  4. Student shall perform and explain inspections, checks, and perform service on speed, configuration warning systems, electrical brake controls, and antiskid systems to level 2 standards given the required tools and equipment.
  5. Repair aircraft fuel system components to a level 2 standard.
