BUS 234 Training and Development Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course covers developing, conducting, and evaluating employee training with attention to adult learning principles. Emphasis is placed on conducting a needs assessment, using various instructional approaches, designing the learning environment, and locating learning resources. Upon completion, students should be able to design, conduct, and evaluate a training program.
Course is typically offered in Spring. Course has transfer restrictions - 10 years
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:
- Design a training program to meet company needs in a company and situation created by the student.
- Conduct an effective training workshop.
- Assess training needs effectively in a business setting.
- Design the appropriate learning environment based on adult learning principles.
- Create appropriate evaluations for employees to determine if they are meeting their outlined objectives.
- Accurately assess an employees’ readiness for training.
- Design an effective onboarding orientation program for a specific job.
