CAR 112 Carpentry II Lecture: 3 Lab: 15 Clinic: 0 Credits: 8 This course covers the advanced theory and construction methods associated with the building industry including framing and exterior finishes. Topics include safety, hand/power tool use, measurement and layout, construction framing, exterior trim and finish, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to safely frame and apply exterior finishes to a residential building with supervision.
Pre-requisite(s): CAR 111 . Course is typically offered in Spring. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Layout walls to blueprint specifications to one eighth inch tolerance.
- Calculate rafters to proper length within 1/16”.
- Cut rafters to fit properly on a wall structure with hands on evaluation.
- Calculate stair stringer tread and riser with a score of 70% or higher on exam.
