CJC 121 Law Enforcement Operations

This course introduces fundamental law enforcement operations. Topics include the contemporary evolution of law enforcement operations and related issues. Upon completion, students should be able to explain theories, practices, and issues related to law enforcement operations.

This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a premajor and/or elective course requirement.

Course is typically offered in Spring.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:

  1. Create a model of strategies and methods for comparison of effective police patrol.
  2. Critique the use of discretion in law enforcement and its impact on the community.  Assess the operational organization, policies, and procedures of a local law enforcement agency.
  3. Apply the appropriate Constitutional considerations, along with Federal, State, and Local laws which legislate police action and conduct.
  4. Categorize training and policies that limit liability in the law enforcement profession.
