ENT 114 Entertainment Law Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course provides an introduction to legal aspects of the entertainment industry. Topics include performance rights, songwriting and personal appearance contracts, copyright law, trademarks, and the like. Upon completion, students should be able to explain the basic elements of a contract, recognizing, explaining, and evaluating elements of law that pertain to entertainment.
Course is typically offered in Spring. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:
- Create an employment contract with the necessary elements of entertainment industry related contracts.
- Apply contract negotiations with in the entertainment industry.
- Apply copyright and trademark law to the entertainment industry.
- Apply the law governing arrangements and adaptations of music to existing examples.
- Interpret the laws governing performers’ rights and organizations.
