HEA 120 Community Health

Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3
This course provides information about contemporary community health and school hygiene issues. Topics include health education and current information about health trends. Upon completion, students should be able to recognize and devise strategies to prevent today’s community health problems.

This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a premajor and/or elective course requirement.

Course is typically offered in Fall and Spring.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Document the concepts of community health with a 70% quiz average.
  2. Investigate community and school health issues and trends in a written report.
  3. Evaluate intervention strategies appropriate for diseases and injuries in discussion forums.
  4. Examine the responsibilities of health care and public health systems in discussion forums.
  5. Explain the relationship of wellness to community health.
