HRM 240 Marketing for Hospitality

Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3
This course covers planning, organizing, directing, and analyzing the results of marketing programs for the hospitality industry. Emphasis is placed on target marketing, marketing mix, analysis, product and image development, use of current media, sales planning, advertising, public relations, and collateral materials. Upon completion, students should be able to apply the marketing process as it relates to the hospitality industry.

Course is typically offered in Fall.

At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Identify the differences between marketing services and marketing products.
  2. Determine research and analysis techniques for planning the marketing effort.
  3. Evaluate existing marketing plans in the hospitality industry.
  4. Design a marketing plan for the hospitality industry using a written report.
