HYD 110 Hydraulics/Pneumatics I

Lecture: 2 Lab: 3 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3
This course introduces the basic components and functions of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Topics include standard symbols, pumps, control valves, control assemblies, actuators, FRL, maintenance procedures, and switching and control devices. Upon completion, students should be able to understand the operation of a fluid power system, including design, application and troubleshooting.

Course is typically offered in Spring.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Demonstrate a basic principle of hydraulics / pneumatics and differentiate between the two in a group presentation.
  2. Design a lab project using Pascal’s Law, Boyle’s Law or Charle’s Law in a group presentation.
  3. Demonstrate how the various hydraulic/pneumatic components work together in a lab setting.
  4. Troubleshoot hydraulic/pneumatic circuits for faults during lab assignments.
