LEX 211 Real Property II

Lecture: 1 Lab: 4 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3
This course continues the study of real property law relating to title examination and preparation of closing documents. Topics include use of courthouse and other public records in title examination and preparation of documents required in real estate transactions and closings. Upon completion, students should be able to plot/draft a description, perform complete title examination, draft closing documents including title insurance forms, and prepare disbursement reconciliation.

Pre-requisite(s): LEX 210.  
Course is typically offered in Fall.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:

  1. Draw a plot of a given piece of property using metes and bounds from a given fact pattern.
  2. Produce a complete title examination using information provided.
  3. Compose closing documents using facts provided
  4. Evaluate title insurance forms for accuracy using fact pattern provided.
  5.  Verify funds disbursement reconciliation using fact pattern provided.
  6. Simulate a real estate closing in a role play scenario.
