LOG 110 Introduction to Logistics

This course provides an overview of logistics. Topics include traffic management, warehousing, inventory control, material handling, global logistics, and the movement and storage of goods from raw materials sources to end consumers. Upon completion, students should be able to identify the different segments of logistics and use the terminology of the industry.

Course is typically offered in Fall, Spring, and Summer.
Course has transfer restrictions - 10 years

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

Construct an appropriate supply chain for a product or service.
Analyze basic logistics data to make operational decisions.
Apply customer management skills to the logistics function.
Compare the different transportation modes characterizing the tradeoffs between cost and customer service.
Analyze the costs of Inventory in the Supply Chain describing the balance between inventory costs and customer service levels.
Characterize the functions and technologies of warehousing and distribution facilities within the goals of operational efficiency in providing customer satisfaction.
Apply basic characteristics of Global Logistics activities to the global supply chain’s goal of meeting customer requirements.
