MEC 130 Mechanisms

Lecture: 2 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3
This course introduces the purpose and action of various mechanical devices. Topics include cams, cables, gear trains, differentials, screws, belts, pulleys, shafts, levers, lubricants, and other devices. Upon completion, students should be able to analyze, maintain, and troubleshoot the components of mechanical systems.

Course is typically offered in Fall.

At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Practice OSHA safety standards in the workplace.
  2. Identify mechanical system components.
  3. Assemble mechanical systems.
  4. Repair failures in mechanical systems.
  5. Demonstrate time management skills while completing mechanical system builds.
