This course introduces basic anatomy and physiology. Emphasis is placed on the relationship between body structure and function and the procedures common to health care. Upon completion, students should be able to identify body system components and functions relating this knowledge to the delivery of health care.

Course is typically offered in Fall and Spring.
Course has transfer restrictions - 5 years

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)

  1. Categorize human anatomical hierarchy from the whole organism down to the molecular level of organization.
  2. Explain the functions of cells, tissues, and organs from each body system.
  3. Identify key structures and organs from the major body systems.
  4. Apply correct whole-body directional and descriptive terms.
  5. Examine how various disease processes affect each organ system.
  6. Evaluate how each body system functions to maintain homeostasis.
