MED 262 Clinical Perspectives

This course is designed to explore personal and occupational responsibilities of the practicing medical assistant. Emphasis is placed on problems encountered during externships and development of problem-solving skills. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate courteous and diplomatic behavior when solving problems in the medical facility.

Pre-requisite(s): Admission to the Medical Assisting Program.
Course is typically offered in Spring.
Course has transfer restrictions - 2 years

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Develop positive interpersonal skills within the externship environment.
  2. Critique soft skills of peers/self within the medical practice.
  3. Evaluate employment opportunities.  
  4. Create a job portfolio for employment interview with an 80% or better.
