SEC 210 Intrusion Detection

Lecture: 2 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3
This course introduces the student to intrusion detection methods in use today. Topics include the types of intrusion detection products, traffic analysis, and planning and placement of intrusion detection solutions. Upon completion, students should be able to plan and implement intrusion detection solution for networks and host-based systems.

Course is typically offered in Spring.
Course has transfer restrictions - 10 years

At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Explain advantages of host-based intrusion detection systems.
  2. Explain advantages of network-based intrusion detection systems.
  3. Plan the installation of an intrusion detection system.
  4. Differentiate between network analysis methods.
  5. Investigate current intrusion detection systems.
