GRD 121 Drawing Fundamentals I

This course increases observation skills using basic drawing techniques and media in graphic design. Emphasis is placed on developing the use of graphic design principles, media applications, spatial considerations, drawing styles, and approaches. Upon completion, students should be able to show competence and proficiency in finished works.

Course is typically offered in Fall.

At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

Create original drawings using specified drawing techniques.
Apply knowledge of specified drawing techniques within compositions.
Prepare artwork appropriately for presentation and exhibition.
Create compositions utilizing traditional elements of drawing.
Critique self-progress and others’ through group critiques and written assessments.
Apply appropriate vocabulary and terms in discussions and group critiques of drawings.
