BUS 139 Entrepreneurship I

This course provides an introduction to the principles of entrepreneurship. Topics include self-analysis of entrepreneurship readiness, the role of entrepreneur in economic development, legal problems, organizational structure, sources of financing, budgeting, and cash flow. Upon completion, students should have an understanding of the entrepreneurial process and issues faced by entrepreneurs.

Course is typically offered in Fall.

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Explain the impact of small business on society.
  2. Evaluate the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs.
  3. Conduct a self-analysis of entrepreneurship readiness.
  4. Compare the various legal forms of business that a small business owner can adopt.
  5. Summarize the importance of each component of the business plan.
  6. Apply creativity, innovation, and design thinking to a new business startup.
  7. Conduct a feasibility analysis of a business venture.
