WLD 122 GMAW (MIG) Plate/Pipe

This course is designed to enhance skills with the gas metal arc (MIG) welding process. Emphasis is placed on advancing skills with the GMAW process making groove welds on carbon steel plate and pipe in various positions. Upon completion, students should be able to perform groove welds with prescribed electrodes on various joint geometry.

Pre-requisite(s): WLD 121 .
Course is typically offered in Spring.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
Upon completion of the course, students should be able to complete the following:

Perform GMAW (Mig) groove and fillet welds on mild steel limited thickness material: sheet, plate and pipe in accordance with AWS D1.1
Apply weld qualification processes to project assembly welds using AWS (American Welding Society) standards.
Fabricate a metal welded assembly, from a blueprint using fabrication processes, to acceptable instructor standards.
