ISC 110 Workplace Safety

Lecture: 1 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 1
This course introduces the basic concepts of workplace safety. Topics include fire, ladders, lifting, lock-out/tag-out, personal protective devices, and other workplace safety issues related to OSHA compliance. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the components of a safe workplace.

Course is typically offered in Fall.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:

  1. Take part in the Safety Culture initial training.
  2. Complete Safety Culture written essay #1 per NCFAME guidelines.
  3. Satisfactorily lead an AMT safety discussion to NCFAME specifications.
  4. Develop a Personal Safety Commitment, per NCFAME guidelines.
  5. Complete Safety Culture written essay #2 per NCFAME guidelines.
  6. Complete the Safety Culture End-of-Semester group presentation.
