ASM 116 Composite Material Test Lecture: 2 Lab: 3 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course is designed to provide students with general knowledge of the inspection process used during the repair of composite aerostructures. Emphasis is placed on composite material inspection procedures involving nondestructive inspection techniques and procedures. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of proper and safe procedures involving nondestructive inspection.
Pre-requisite(s): ASM 114 Course is typically offered in Spring and Summer. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Apply requirements for destructive coupon testing.
- Apply requirements for burn coupon testing.
- Demonstrate visual non-destructive testing.
- Demonstrate tap non-destructive testing.
- Examine delaminated composite material using proper inspection procedures.
- Demonstrate proper removal of delaminated composite material.
- Compare the various methods of non-destructive testing.
