ASM 215 Aero Sheet Metal Struct Lecture: 1 Lab: 8 Clinic: 0 Credits: 5 This course covers tools, maintenance and repair practices employed on modern metallic aircraft. Topics include metallurgy, fastener types and selection, and acceptable practices of repair and maintenance of sheet metal structures. Upon completion, students should be able to select the proper fasteners and procedures to effect proper metallic structure repairs.
Pre-requisite(s): Take ASM 110 . Course is typically offered in Fall and Summer. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Use power and non-power cutting tools.
- Form sheet metal used in aircraft manufacturing and repair.
- Create proper rivet pattern layout for aircraft sheet metal repairs.
- Compare the different types of documents used in aircraft manufacturing and repair.
- Utilize non-flush repair techniques on a flat sheet metal structure.
- Apply a flush combination repair on a flat sheet metal structure.
- Apply a circular flush repair on a curved sheet metal structure.
