BUS 110 Introduction to Business Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course provides a survey of the business world. Topics include the basic principles and practices of contemporary business. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of business concepts as a foundation for studying other business subjects.
This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a premajor and/or elective course requirement.
Pre-requisite(s): DRE 097 or ENG 002 Course is typically offered in Fall, Spring, and Summer. Course has transfer restrictions - 10 years
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:
- Identify the ethical and social responsibility of stakeholders.
- Summarize the impacts of globalization on businesses.
- Explain the advantages and disadvantages of various business formats.
- Differentiate how the basic management functions (planning, organizing, leading, and controlling) are used in various business operations.
- Identify the elements of a marketing mix for a new product.
- Discern the components of a basic balance sheet and income statement.
