CAR 110 Introduction to Carpentry Lecture: 2 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 2 This course introduces the student to the carpentry trade. Topics include duties of a carpenter, hand and power tools, building materials, construction methods, and safety. Upon completion, students should be able to identify hand and power tools, common building materials, and basic construction methods.
Course is typically offered in Fall. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Characterize the different materials used in the construction of a house.
- Identify different types of hand tools.
- Compare different types of fastening systems.
- Operate the different tables on a framing square.
