ELC 126 Electrical Computations

Lecture: 2 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3

This course introduces the fundamental applications of mathematics which are used by an electrical/electronics technician. Topics include whole numbers, fractions, decimals, powers, roots, simple electrical formulas, and usage of a scientific calculator. Upon completion, students should be able to solve simple electrical mathematical problems.

Course is typically offered in Fall.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:

  1. Apply mathematical operations (whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percents) to solve basic electrical problems.
  2. Solve electrical computations using ratios, proportions, powers, and roots in practical scenarios.
  3. Calculate electrical formulas using algebraic principles, including Ohm’s Law and power calculations.
  4. Evaluate measurement systems, trigonometric functions, and electrical formulas for accuracy in electrical applications.
