HIS 112 World Civilizations II Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course introduces world history from the early modern era to the present. Topics include the cultures of Africa, Europe, India, China, Japan, and the Americas. Upon completion, students should be able to analyze significant political, socioeconomic, and cultural developments in modern world civilizations.
This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a general education course in Social/Behavioral Sciences. This is a Universal General Education Transfer Component (UGETC) course.
Pre-requisite(s): DRE 097 or ENG 002 Course is typically offered in Fall, Spring, and Summer. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Synthesize a logical response to selected historical issues by using appropriate sources.
- Apply correct key terms and concepts of historical analysis.
- Analyze various social, political, economic, and religious trends of the Early Modern and Modern world.
- Differentiate between facts, theories, and opinions.
- Integrate multiple source materials in the analysis of historical events.
- Evaluate the impact of the two world wars on people living in affected countries.
