LOG 211 Distribution Management Lecture: 2 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course covers the functions, techniques, and tools utilized in warehousing and distribution centers and their role in business and logistics. Emphasis is placed on warehouse and distribution center management, operations, productivity, software systems, picking, automation, cross docking, safety, security, material handling, benchmarking, and cost. Upon completion, students should be able to describe the role of warehouses and distribution centers, apply industry principles and terminology, and understand distribution productivity measures.
Pre-requisite(s): LOG 110. Course is typically offered in Fall. Course has transfer restrictions - 10 years
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Demonstrate the principles of warehouse and distribution management as they impact logistics functions in a team environment.
- Demonstrate appropriate use of warehouse technology in a distribution center.
- Analyze material flow in a warehouse connecting this to customer requirements.
- Apply proper material handling and storage equipment use in warehouse/distribution operations.
- Manage inventory effectively in a warehouse operation.
