LOG 211 Distribution Management Lecture: 2 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course covers the functions, techniques, and tools utilized in warehousing and distribution centers and their role in business and logistics. Emphasis is placed on warehouse and distribution center management, operations, productivity, software systems, picking, automation, cross docking, safety, security, material handling, benchmarking, and cost. Upon completion, students should be able to describe the role of warehouses and distribution centers, apply industry principles and terminology, and understand distribution productivity measures.
Pre-requisite(s): LOG 110. Course is typically offered in Fall. Course has transfer restrictions - 10 years
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Use warehouse and distribution management principles.
- Interpret a comprehensive inventory plan in a warehouse operation.
- Use technology and material handling and storage equipment in warehouse/distribution operations.
- Analyze material flow in a warehouse.
- Optimize existing capacity in a warehouse environment.
- Describe common Key Performance Indicators for warehouse operations.
